Use a Computer

The library has public computers with Internet access. This describes what we have and how to use them.

Welcome!  The James Kennedy Library has a Computer Lab with seven computers all connected to the Internet.  If you wish to use one of our computers, you need to do a couple of things:

  • Sign an Internet Users Agreement (if you are under 18, a parent needs to be present to sign) See Computer Use Policy.

  • Sign in to a computer at the circulation desk.  Patrons may have a computer for 1 hour.  (Please note: if you reside outside of Dyersville, there may be a fee for computer use of $1.00 for each half hour or part thereof.  Please inquire at the circulation desk to see if you need to pay.)

  • You may also sign out headphones if needed for 1 hour.

  • You may print from our computers in black and white or in color.  Fees are: $.15 a copy for black and white and $.50 a copy for color.

There are many useful programs on our computers that include but are not limited to:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Access
  • Microsoft Publisher
  • Microsoft Frontpage
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Streets & Trips
  • Microsoft Powerpoint
  • Microsoft Photo Editor
  • Acrobat Reader 5.0
  • Windows Media Player
  • Windows Movie Player
  • Notepad
  • Word Pad
  • Paint

The James Kennedy Library also has two computers without Internet access for anyone that just wishes to play games, etc.  They are located in our Children’s area.  Please sign in at the circulation desk first.
